There is no wind, how does it turn?

nickcarriedo @ 6:44 pm #

cant u email the other component to make turbine

Love wind energy, but hate the batteries to store the energy. Homemade batteries, that’s what I want, LOL

If you taiking about a car fan motor or some sort of cool air fan no you can’t the rule of thumb is you a need minimum three times the input DC voltage at the lowest RPM output than you need to charge at, example if you want to charge at 12v you need a DC motor that requires a 36v plus input to turn it ,The higher the DC volts required to turn a motor with the lowest RPM out put the better it will charge batteries.

Can i use fan motor and make wind turbine to make energy?

DeanC993 @ 9:21 pm #

Cool its very quite too

binashraf @ 10:10 pm #

what can you power with that? how many volts do you get out of it, and do you have anything to store the energy up when ur not using any energy from it?

demotriton @ 10:58 pm #

how “watts” supply ??????

What do do you consider a good motor to start with. Where can one be purchased thank you (Mike)

jgizmo @ 1:27 am #

the turbines I have at TheFieldLab put out 100 watts in a 25mph wind. Most any turbine out there needs that much wind to produce usable power. good luck gearing it up….you have friction working against you….let me know how it goes.

MandLVideo @ 1:30 am #

Ok all joking aside how much power do you put out. that looks like a treadmill motor. Without gearing, do you get more then 3v on avg. I’m Sure it will do about 20v but that is with a high wind. The reason I ask is I built one last year just like yours. I’m going to gear mine up. See what happens

JamboyStu @ 1:42 am #

What type of alternator does it use?

VinnyFoFingas @ 1:50 am #

um… yep, the wind blows… what about that turbine part?

daddub1 @ 2:16 am #

Thanks for all the info and plans,Greatly appreciated!!!!!This looks like a good 1st one to build>

cool!
thanks!

I will check out the velacreation site to see if I can build a wind gennie. I like your idea of trying to be self sustainable in the west desert of texas. Greening the desert is a great idea.
