I have made my own wind generator and use it for back up power at my house. I took a 55 gallon drum and cut it in half, mounted it on a pole using bearings of course and made my own stand. I use a 14″ pulley off of the pole and a fan belt to a car alternator. Hooked the alternator up to a bank of golf cart batteries(I used 6) and then use an inverter to bring the power to 110 volts AC current. I currently get about 6 hours of uninterrupted power use using my TV and satellite only. The more batteries you use , theoretically the longer or more power you can draw from it. Hopes this gives you some ideas
